In this video, Dennis Overton, chair of the SAC Commercial Board visits the under-construction Rural and Veterinary Innovation Centre (RAVIC). RAVIC is an ambitious hub hoping to create new links between science and industry in rural Scotland.

Opening in Inverness later this year, RAVIC will develop new technologies and systems for the country’s land and marine-based sectors, including the green and blue economies of agriculture and aquaculture.

The £12.5 million pound project is being led by Scotland’s Rural College, (SRUC) whose existing Centre for Epidemiology and Planetary Health will provide a core function. It has been funded by the European Regional Development Fund, the Scottish Funding Council and SRUC.

Part of Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC), SAC Commercial Ltd is a private limited company which undertakes SRUC’s commercial activities in consultancy, education and research.

A graduate of the University of Aberdeen, Dennis has established and grown several food and farming businesses. He co-founded the Ross-shire-based sustainable seafood business Aquascot in 1987 and, in Rwanda, he chairs Ikirezi, an organic farming and processing business.
