How to create realistic fire effect in Photoshop

1. Prepare images.
Stock images used in this tutorial was taken from:
Fire stocks http://cgtextures.com/
Smoke stocks http://bgfons.com/
2. Open the main photo.
Choose File-Open (Ctrl+O).
Select your main photo file then click Open.
3. Open the fire stock then place it on the image.
Choose File-Place.
Select the fire stock you want to add and then click Place.
Click the commit transform button.
Change its blend mode to Lighten.
4. Adjust the fire's position and size.
Press Ctrl+T to invoke Free Transform.
Click-drag on Free Transform handles to adjust its position.
Click-drag anywhere inside the Free Transform box to move it.
Press Ctrl+Enter when you're done.
Adjust layer's opacity to a value of 75-90%.
You can duplicate this fire's layer by pressing Ctrl+J,
then adjust it using Free Transform (Ctrl+T).
5. Add more fire.
Repeat steps 3 and 4 to add more fires to the image or
you can just duplicate an existing fire by pressing Ctrl+J then
adjust it using Free Transform.
6. Open the smoke stock then place it on the image.
Choose File-Place.
Select the smoke stock you want to add and then click Place.
Click the commit transform button.
Change its blend mode to Lighten.
7. Adjust the smoke's position and size.
Press Ctrl+T to invoke Free Transform.
Click-drag on Free Transform handles to adjust its position.
Click-drag anywhere inside the Free Transform box to move it.
Press Ctrl+Enter when you're done.
Adjust layer's opacity to a value of 25%.
You can duplicate this smoke's layer by pressing Ctrl+J,
then adjust it using Free Transform (Ctrl+T).
8. Remove unwanted fire and smoke effects using the Brush tool.
Grab the Brush tool.
Select the Brush size in the options bar.
Set the foreground color to black by pressing the D key on the keyboard.
Add layer mask to every fire and smoke layers.
Use your mouse to clean the unwanted fire or smoke.
9. Add Glass effect filter.
Convert the background layer to smart filters.
Click the background layer to activate it then choose Filter-Convert for Smart Filters.
Choose Filter-Filter Gallery.
In the Filter dialog box, select Distort-Glass.
Fill in the distortion between 9 to 13, Smoothness 4, Frosted Textures and Scaling about 50%.
10. Create a heat effect using the brush tool.
