How long does SEO take?
This is probably the number one question I get asked.
Unfortunately there is no straightforward answer to it.
The truthful answer is it takes as long as it takes. But everyone wants some kind of measurable answer. So the answer is ti really depends on many factors.
How old is your site? How competitive is your niche/industry?
New sites will take longer to rank as Google needs to trust its not a spam site. The last thing you want is spam/fraudulent sites on Google page 1 search results so understandably it needs to take the time to make sure yours isn't one of them.
The competitiveness of a niche is the biggest factor in deciding how long it takes. You need to firstly catch up with your competitors and secondly surpass them.
How good is your content? How good are your competitors backlinks? How many do they have? How long (realistically) would it take you to build as many if not more high quality backlinks as they have.
If you can build 10 high quality backlinks per month and your target is 100 then 10 - 12 months would be a reasonable estimate on how long it would take to get to page 1.
Additionally seeing results and outranking your competitors are two different things. Seeing results could be just seeing your rankings start moving. This could happen almost as soon as you start making improvements to your website and building high quality backlinks.
Just keep in mind you need to set realistic expectations and you need to understand SEO is a long term strategy and therefore it will take time.
