How to Hide WordPress Username (Author Name) from HACKERS
In this video, I will show you how to HIDE our WordPress USERNAME (Author name) from appearing anywhere on our website.
See, by default, our Username, which we use for logging into our WordPress website, is also used as the "author name" on any blog posts we publish.
This is a bit of a security risk, as it means anyone trying to hack our website, already knows our username.
But, luckily, there's a built-in feature to change this called "nicknames".
So, we can use a nickname as our author name, while still using our original username to log in.
Which will greatly improve the security of our website and decrease the chance of unwanted attacks.
📋 Written Steps:
1. Visit the dashboard.
2. Click into "Users" on the left.
3. Hover over the Username we want to set a nickname for, and click "Edit".
4. Scroll down the page until we see "Nickname".
5. Type whatever we want to use for our nickname into this box.
6. Then, beside where it says "display name publicly as", we just need to choose our nickname from the drop-down menu.
And that's how easy it is to hide our WordPress username from appearing on our website, using nicknames.
