We love spending time exploring the wilderness with our Malamute cross dog, Tenshi.
We recently purchased a dog backpack so that she could help carry some of our supplies for an overnight backpacking trip on Monarch Mountain, which is in the small community of Atlin in Northern British Columbia, Canada.
Tenshi is mostly Alaskan Malamute and these dogs were originally bred for strength and endurance. We had a feeling she would have no trouble carrying her own food and bowl along with some of our snacks and other gear. Our feelings were right!
She was a natural and seemed to enjoy being part of our packing team. We gave her lots of breaks, massages, snacks, and praise. We are all looking forward to our next backpacking trip.
