What’s Next for USD, Euro, Gold and Oil - Post US Election Breakdown?
Trump is officially back in power as the 47th President of the United States! It was quite a journey, but in the end, he won decisively with 297 electoral votes, way above the 270 needed. The race was tight at times, with Kamala Harris in the mix, but Trump managed to stay ahead, especially as they started counting the votes. Now, with Trump leading the country, many of us are asking—how will this impact the markets?
So far, we’ve seen some major moves. The US dollar has strengthened significantly, while the Euro is feeling the pressure. In fact, we saw the Euro collapse over 120 pips in a single day after Trump’s win! Gold also took a dive once the news started spreading, which was pretty notable since it had been steady for the early hours of the election. Dow Jones is on a tear, moving upward as well.
As Trump settles back into the presidency, I think we’ll see more market shifts. Expect the US dollar to remain strong, possibly pushing the Euro down even further. We could even be looking at Euro-dollar parity if this trend continues. Oil prices are also dropping, which is likely to bring down gas prices—good news for anyone filling up their car!
And just around the corner, the FOMC is expected to announce a 25-basis-point cut. According to predictions, there’s a 97-98% chance of this cut happening, which should add extra volatility to the market. However, we’ll see how this plays out, especially now that the markets are factoring in Trump’s win.
