What started out as being a great walk with friends along Mermaid Pools and Tahmoor Canyon Circuit, nearly ended up in tragedy as a friend lost his footing and fell head first down 3m on rocks.
Thankfully Colin was conscious as we applied a compression bandage to a serious head wound.
Although battered and bruised and after careful consideration, we were eventually able to make our way back to our car.
Unfortunately as we were about to take him to hospital, he became ill and took the appropriate action by calling 000 for assistance.
Special thanks go out to the police and paramedics who attended the call and for their kind professional assistance.
Once again I stress the importance of safety and being prepared at all times.
At all times I do carry a PLB (Personal Locator Beacon), First aid kit, Mobile phone and Battery recharger for my Iphone.
Thankfully we did not require activation of the PLB and also managed limited mobile range to notify a family member of the incident and locations as we made our way back to our vehicle.
Ps Colin was released from hospital with no serious injuries and understandably sore but doing well
