This video will demonstrate setting up a Work Order process for a team of GIS users using the Simple GIS Collaborate plugin for Simple GIS Client and DropBox. This video will cover setting up you folder structure and privileges in DropBox as well as the Work Order functionality in the Simple GIS Collaborate plugin including conflict resolution. The Simple GIS Collaborate plugin allows you to have remote editors to collect data and make changes to your shapefile layers through work orders. The Simple GIS Collaborate allows a GIS Administrator to easily create work orders for areas needing field verification, data collection, or just data edits. GIS editors can open these work orders, perform their edits or add requested data and then post these work orders back to a central repository. The Administrator can then select these work order to process which will update the central GIS database as well as providing mechanism;s to resolve any editing conflicts. This tool provides a very inexpensive method for managing your GIS shapefile database across a geographically dispersed team. Using the DropBox feature allows field users to synchronize data and work orders to their local machine thereby providing offline capability for data collection and editing.
