Proximity analysis is one of the most common GIS spatial analysis techniques used to answer questions such as:
• What customers are within 5 miles of my store?
• What is the average distance between my store location and customers?
• How far are locations from a specific facility?
• What features are closest to a given point or polygon?
The Proximity Analysis tool in Simple GIS Client also allows you to classify and group results. For example, if you had different customer types, you could specify a grouping on your analysis results to answer the same question for each type of customer as well as for the total customer population.
