Dollar Tree supplies:
Bubble mailer (light kraft paper outside)
Roll of kraft paper (mailing section) or large kraft gift bag
Brown tempera paint
Mod Podge, glossy
You can certainly substitute a used bubble mailer, brown packing paper or paper grocery sack, and any brown paint. The glossy Mod Podge makes the brown paper cover look leather-like so I would not suggest omitting that supply.
Cut lightweight cardboard into two pieces that are 6” x 9”
Cut the bubble mailer into two pieces that are 6” x 9”
Stack each piece of cardboard with a piece of bubble mailer and wrap in kraft paper
Paint with brown paint and allow to dry
Paint with glossy Mod Podge
If you want to make an adventure book cover, you will also need
1/4” hole punch
book rings
letter stickers or die cuts
cream or white paper oval

Mod Podge Gloss is $7.99 for 16 oz on amazon https://amzn.to/3XQSpbt so the Dollar Tree price of $1.25 for 2 oz is actually a little higher per ounce (by 20%) but 8 oz of Mod Podge Gloss is a lot of product. If this is not a product you use regularly, I would definitely go for the 2 oz size.
