The birthday “flip and dip” - a tag flip and a lucky dip for presents!
One of my friends had a family tradition around birthdays, not heavy on presents but lots and lots of cards. Her mom could no longer do that for her birthday, so I’ve been doing lots and lots of cards in her stead. I’ve done regular greeting cards before, but this year I’m doing a birthday tag flip and a box of small presents.
The box itself is an empty facial tissue box. I cut lightweight cardboard boxes from cereal or crackers into pieces 4 1/4” wide (the width of the box) and let them be however long (ranges from 5” to 8 3/4”.) Each “card” is decorated on the front, numbered on the back, and has a 1/4” hole punched in the lower right corner so they can be assembled onto a ring. The box has small gifts for every three days or so. The gift items are small - candy or snacks, lip balm, hair pins, that kind of thing. I’ve been so into junk journaling this year that all the fronts are decorated in a junk journal style.
Just a fun little way to mark someone’s birthday!
