Urban Legends: The LA River’s Role in Classic Films
Today we're exploring the LA River, and it's role as an iconic movie filming location in Los Angeles.
And yes, it's actually a river, and not completely man-made. Since 1929, there has been a constant flow of water, and it's the main source of water for the LA Basin.
In August 2013, the LA Times published an article stating that the water originates from two giant pipes that collect the sewage from homes of 800,000+ San Fernando Valley residents, and it consists primarily of industrial and residential discharge.
Some of the movies that have been filmed on the banks of the shore include Grease, Terminator 2, and Drive.
