Dolby Atmos Surround Sound Explained
What is Dolby Surround Sound?
I recently went to the movies and was overwhelmed with viewing options, so I want to break each down, starting with Dolby Surround Sound.
Simply, it’s an audio technology that creates a 3D sound experience. If a character is walking behind the camera, you’ll hear it behind you. If there’s action on the ride side of the frame, the audio will come from that direction.
Hence why there were so many speakers on all the walls, and ceiling.
It feels more dynamic, and clear compared to the standard audio.
We saw Wolverine v. Deadpool with Dolby Surround Sound, and it felt like the sound effects were shaking me to my core in a way a normal speaker can’t.
So, was it worth it?
Yes, it was a noticeable improvement that would be lacking if not selected.
