This is the Griffith Observatory, one of Hollywood's most famous filming locations.

It was first commissioned in 1896 and opened in 1935 by a man who gives “having a double first name” a whole new meaning, Griffith J. Griffith.

Griffith J. Griffith donated 3,015 acres of land to the city with the specific instructions of keeping the observatory, and park free.

The first movie filmed here was The Phantom Empire (1935). In addition, La La Land, Jurassic Park, The Terminator, Transformers, and so many blockbusters were filmed at this place.

They even have a James Dean head statue from the Hollywood movie classic, Rebel Without a Cause.
