Yes, at first, I was dragged along by an intern.

There is a subculture popular among students called the "Minefield Sector," but I was told that its perception has worsened following a video by a major YouTuber.

After meeting some kids from the Minefield Sector at Gyeongui Line Book Street, I found this to be true.

Unlike the Japanese origin story that says "a woman who is like a landmine if you step on her," many students in Korea started participating simply because they liked fashion. These friends were facing danger due to the perception that "Minefield Sector members are delinquent youths." Not only were they being teased, but they were also receiving offers for compensated dating from adult men while walking down the street.

Oh, of course, there are indeed delinquent youths in the Minefield Sector!

However, kids who do bad things existed long before the Minefield Sector was created. They exist in every youth group, including arts and sports students, model students, gamers, and TikTokers. As of 2024, no domestic research or reports can be found proving the relationship between the Minefield Sector and bad behavior. According to the police officer in charge of the Gyeongui Line Book Street, who could be considered an expert, the "Minefield" community has been highlighted in an overly negative light, and there are actually many ordinary children among them.

What is also surprising is the media coverage.

Most media outlets simply picked up and reprinted sensational videos of the Minefield community from major YouTubers. Although some media outlets reported through on-the-ground reporting that the Minefield community consists of ordinary children, surprisingly few of the children actually read those articles. On the contrary, by using the term "Gyeongui Line Kids"—modeled after "Toyoko Kids" (Japan's delinquent youth Minefield community)—the perception that the Korean Minefield community is also delinquent youth was reinforced.

So, we are going to start.

To reduce prejudice, we have decided to show the Minefield community as it truly is.

Furthermore, through content and actions that the media typically avoids, we intend to prove the effectiveness of the media in reverse.

We look forward to your support :D
