Hello, this is PD Park Su-in from Hyinity.🙂
In the past, student athletes reportedly faced significant issues with missed classes and declining grades due to frequent competition participation.
When they eventually gave up on sports, they also struggled to find new career paths.
To address these problems, the 'Minimum Academic Achievement System' was introduced.🧐
Currently, there is strong opposition to this system from parents in the sports community, leading to a national petition.
However, it seems that the students directly affected still do not know what they think about this system.
So, Hyinity looked into it!🤓
After listening to student athletes, I realized how incredibly difficult it must be to study while training from early morning to late night.😭
I also thought that applying minimum academic standards only to the sports sector—unlike other arts and physical education fields (like fine arts, music, and entertainment)—might be discriminatory.
Could this system have been created due to prejudice against the sports world? Or is it truly for the sake of the student athletes' future? Please share your thoughts in the comments!
