How to change Facebook URL for groups
Hi Paul here from PRwilson Media. Now if you have created or manage a group on Facebook and you want to make it easier for people to find your group , just have a simple name , you can change from the default which is a series of numbers when you create a group to the actual customized url. So in this case, I'm going to show you how to change this to givingabit for this particullar group. Here's how it works.
The first thing to do is click the top menu here on the 3 dots for more and then go to edit group settings. And you can see there is a group name that we've entered there but what we want to change is the web and email address section so click here and say customize address. And it says create an alias for the group's web and email address.
Notice that if you get above 5000 members of a group you won't be able to do this more than once so bear that in mind. So I'm just going to call this givingabit and then just click customize address. And that's basically all that you need to do. Notice another option here to link your page to a group. so if you've had a group for a while but you want to connect it to your actual Facebook page that's a great option because you can actually, the adminstrators of that page can operate in the group and share content without their own personal Facebook profiles. But I'll cover that in another video. Basically if you search for groups, and so I've gone for a search and I've typed in givingabit and I can see the result here givingabit supporters and you can see now it's got the full URL with a friendly name. And that's something that you can share in your other online posts , linked to in fiers etc just so everyone is aware of the specific name. So a lot easier to deal with than just a series of numbers.
