We're going to deep dive into the site outsourceschool.com - a website that teaches how to hire virtual assistants.
So background context is that we are working on ranking for some of the phrases around virtual assistance.
3:18 - Identifying high impact keywords using Semrush's organic research
When thinking about these sorts of phrases and working through them, we want to consider what are the longtail phrases that you about with respect to your website.
From there, start focusing in on the sorts of phrases that would be high traffic potential and high conversion potential.
When it comes to longtail keyword research, you wanna focus on phrases that don't just only have traffic but also have a lot of potential for conversion. This could be conversion in the form of requesting a demo of your service or product, signing up for a free trial, or even just something as simple as reading more content on your site.
4:53 - Filtering the keyword phrases by position and volume
One of the things that I'll think about when I think about the SEO strategy of this website is, I'll go ahead and see if I can stack a couple of these into a single master content piece or landing page in order to try to rank for a couple of these phrases at once.
5:36 - Evaluating keyword difficulty
Here you'll notice how this is a great sign for me, in which all the keyword difficulties here are pretty low. They're generally under 30 or 40, and that's generally the sweet spot that I like to operate in because it doesn't require as much domain authority, which means that you don't need as many backlinks in order to start ranking for this content.
One of the best ways that you can research this is simply by looking at some of these URLs and seeing what they might be doing on these pages that are getting some general placements.
7:30 - Analyzing content ranking potential
A lot of this stuff is not really that specific and as a result, it's not ranking that well because it's lacking the authority that it really needs and the expertise in order to rank really well.
9:29 - Analyzing Position, Volume, and Keyword Difficulty and SERP Features
Once you've gone through some of the initial searches here, again, to summarize, look by position, look by volume, as well as keyword difficulty, SERP features as well as advanced filters.
11:05 - Analyzing competitor's keyword performance
What I can see here is this site is doing a little bit better than Outsourced School. So they got 216 keywords, 2.1K, monthly traffic estimate. That's great. And what you can see is that they're actually driving a lot of their own traffic, which is interesting. But you'll also see that there's a lot of branded traffic.
Using the Keyword Magic tool, here you can see a lot of different search results and a ton of different key phrases.
