Brazilian Tensile Strength Test on Soft Rock in Civil Engineering | Rock Split
Brazilian tensile strength was conducted on soft sandstone, which was part of geotechnical and civil engineering investigations. This test is commonly used as part of rock mechanics studies to estimate the tensile strength of rocks with different geology. This test is correlated to unconfined compression tests, and the unconfined compressive strength can be estimated based on the tensile strength test results. The rock size is 50 mm in diameter and 20 mm in width. The load is applied through a frame using a conventional unconfined compression machine.
