Gray tree frogs - Hundreds of them singing into the night!
Every year around mid June, some of my favorite frogs come out to sing and find mates. The Gray tree frog (Hyla versicolor). Normally, they spend most of the season way up in the treetops and only singing a little now and then. This year, I found a particularly exceptional chorus of these amphibians for my area. They came down from the upper branches toward their breeding pool and were all around me at eye level, making it great fun to film this video. I even filmed one eating. You can tell it's a Gray tree frog because they have that "tear drop" shape under their eye and bright yellow on their back legs (usually hidden), and of course, their call. One of my Nature Now favorites! A great herping video.
