Gray Treefrog
What is loud and sounds like a huge cricket? Gray Tree frogs (Hyla versicolor) sound a lot like that. You will hear these frog calls in this video. These gray and green blotchy frogs are often see on garage doors, on walls near lights at night and can be heard singing from their high posts both day and night. I love to find these frogs when I go herping for reptiles and amphibians. Amazing amphibians when you learn about them. They have a characteristic tear drop shaped white patch under their eye and are closely related to the Cope's Gray Tree frog. They can be heard singing from mid to late spring and sometimes, throughout the summer months. Their markings often resemble lichen and will blend in with beech trees covered in lichen.
