We all pretty well know about NIT (National Institutes of Technology) which is one of the most esteemed colleges of our country. Even people who belong to other countries are familiar with NITs and their recognition. Generally, people see them next to IITs or Indian Institutes of Technology. Be it a job or higher studies, students coming from this background definitely have an edge when compared to those who studied at private or low-grade universities. Previously, admissions into NITs are offered according to the scores of AIEEE (All India Engineering Entrance Examination). Now, the scenario has changed. JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) is conducted at two levels namely – Mains & Advanced based on which students are admitted into prestigious institutions like IITs, NITs, IIITs & GFTIs.
WHAT IS NIRF?
NIRF or National Institutional Ranking Framework is a system which is purely under the control of MHRD or Ministry of Human Resources Department, Government of India. It basically ranks all the institutions based on various factors like Infrastructure, Faculty, and Placement scenario, Research, Productivity and Resources etc. NIRF was founded in the year 2015. Depending upon different fields of education, rankings are given differently for different institutions.
