Hi, this is Matt Crawford, and today I’ll show you how to edit your profile on X. You can update your display name, bio, links, and profile picture—pretty much everything that personalizes your profile.
Let’s start here in my X profile. First, we’ll click on “Edit Profile” at the top. Important note: if you have a blue check mark through the premium service, be aware it temporarily disappears after you change your display name or profile picture. X says it’ll be reviewed and restored in a couple of days, but just know it won’t be visible right away.
Now, editing your bio won’t affect the blue check mark, so no worries there. Here’s how to customize everything else:
Display Name: You’ve got 50 characters here for your name.
Profile & Cover Photos: Click to change each one.
Bio: This section has a 160-character limit for text.
Location & Website: Add your location and a website link if you’d like.
And here’s a quick tip: if you’re over the character limit in your bio, especially if you have multiple URLs, you can shorten URLs by removing “https://” to free up more space. They’ll still be clickable, but you’ll have more characters to use.
