Professor Support Enables Success in Nursing
Utica University’s Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program can help you find success in nursing, and a large factor of students’ success is the commitment and support of its professors. Hayley, Megan, and Hunter are ABSN students at Utica University, formerly Utica College, and share some of their experiences with professors.
Utica instructors are there for their students for all the challenges in nursing school. Professors often become mentors to their students, helping them through the highs and lows that come with a challenging nursing program.
As Hunter says, “this is not an easy thing to go through, but when you know the professors have your back, it makes life a lot easier.”
Professors are not only there to answer questions, but also to ensure full understanding of the concepts. The goal of Utica’s professors is to send its students out into the field as fully prepared and capable nurses.
Megan expresses appreciation for her professors who go this extra mile, saying “if there’s anything that is confusing or I’m not really grasping, they take the time in lab to sit down and explain it to all of us.”
Ultimately, Utica’s nursing professors strive to help their students be good nurses and good people so they can be successful in the workplace.
For Hayley, Megan, and Hunter, this is very important. “For professors to truly look at you, teach you how to be a nurse, and how to be a better individual — that is truly what the professors do here,” Hayley says.
All three students agreed that their experiences reflect the dedication of Utica professors to the success of their students both in and outside of the labs.
“They really are here to help us succeed and make us better people,” Megan says.
