When Brittney was considering nursing for her next career path, Utica University’s Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program stood out as a candidate to trust her education with.

She reflected on the topic “why I became a nurse,” and after thinking back on her time as a Utica student she said “I really liked being able to see patients through and see how we helped them. And I loved seeing them come out on the other side. So I wanted to be a bigger part of that journey for the patient.”

“I had a passion for nursing, so I became a CNA. It was through COVID so it was pretty tough,” she continued. “Eventually I started working in a cardiac surgery office as a medical assistant, seeing pre op and post op patients. And that's kind of where I decided I wanted to further my career and become an RN.”

Thinking on her application experience, she stated “Utica stands out because right from the get-go, everything was straightforward. Their site was really easy to navigate to see what information I needed, like any testing I needed, or any prerequisites.”

“[Learning] was didactic as well as hands-on, which was nice,” she elaborated. “It was overall appealing to me because of the short term. It is very fast paced, but I do feel like there are many resources, and we have our success coaches.”

Utica University’s ABSN program is designed with a 16-month curriculum blending online-based learning with in-person labs and clinicals, so Utica ABSN students like Brittney can quickly take the next step into their future career.
