Hi, this is Matt Crawford, and this is a super straightforward, simple, quick video on how to create a new board in Trello.

I’m right here on my Trello dashboard. If you’re not familiar, Trello is a great tool for productivity, Kanban boards, and to-do lists. It’s an awesome solution for organizing any kind of work.

If you haven’t already, you’ll need to sign up for a free Trello account. There are paid upgrades, but a free account will get you started. Once you’re logged in, you’ll see a dashboard similar to this one.

To create a new board, click on the blue "Create" button at the top. Here, you’ll see options to either create a board or start with a template.

Trello has a library of templates, including Kanban boards, design huddles, and company overviews. Templates can be useful depending on your needs, but I’m going to show you how to create a standard board from scratch.

Click "Create Board," and now we can customize it.

First, you can choose a background. Trello offers solid colors and images—I’ll go with a dark blue.

Next, name your board. Let’s call this one "WordPress Post Calendar."

You can also set the visibility of your board. The "Workspace" option makes it visible to all team members, "Public" makes it accessible to anyone on the internet, and "Private" ensures that only you can see it. I’ll set this board to private and then click "Create."

Now, we have our new Trello board.

The next step is to add lists. Lists help organize your workflow, so I’ll create one called "To-Do" for tasks that need to be completed and another called "Completed" for finished tasks.

Since this board is for WordPress blog posts, I’ll add a few sample posts. One might be titled "How to Start a Media Company" and another "Essential Gear for Video Production."

You can add as many posts as you like—20, 50, or more. Once a task is finished, you can drag and drop it into the "Completed" list.

Clicking on a card opens up additional options. You can add a description, attach files or images, set due dates, and create labels for organization.

For example, I can add a green label for business-related posts and a purple label for gear-related posts.

As you use Trello, you’ll develop your own workflow and categorization system.

This was just a quick tutorial on creating a Trello board. I went a little further to show lists, labels, and task management, but now you know how to create and customize your own Trello board.
