Gamma 1(.04) E:D has an array of assorted weapons to outfit, but I expect none are as potent as this Noob Gun. I also demonstrate the use of Silent Running that doesn't seem to make any difference in a combat capacity to hinder my target's auto-lock/tracking turrets capability, but a with relatively recent realisation found by the community, SR does indeed work, but only in PvP, not PvE. (The language in this would perhaps be regarded as borderline, but you are duly warned if it's not particularly PC, have no idea what passes these days, the narration is tongue in cheek as it's such an outragious weapon)
I'd like to update this about the use of Silent Running in a combat capacity as I have received a response from one of the Devs at Frontier.
Silent Running does indeed have an application for use in combat, despite it being a high risk strategy, perhaps best used at the end of a fight if your shields have already failed and you can't wait for them to recharge, so.. a few key details I can share with you. Firstly turrets/gimbals missiles etc, are indeed effected by SR, as these use radar integrity to lock a target, but other factors should be included in the equation of using SR effectively in battle. Ones' proximity to a ship running SR greatly increases the chance for target lock, (anything within 2-300 metres makes little difference) but beyond this SR can be used to negate target lock the further you are away. Also, the effectiveness of a ship's sensors (higher grade sensor modules have greater efficiency at greater distances) will be better at locking on the ship using SR. It was rounded off saying high grade sensor modules are a silent runners worse nightmare. Hope this helps with the basics of using Silent Running in a combat capacity, certainly has for myself. I have had greater success using Silent Running in combat more recently, check out: "Cool..er Runnings!" • Elite: Dangerous v1.03 - Cool..er Runnings!
