Verses from "God Is With Us"
Sung at the Great Compline service. Plagal Second Mode. As interpreted by Metropolitan ELIAS (Qurban) of Thrice-Blessed memory and Rev. Fr. Grigorios (Moussa).
1) معنا هو الله، فاعلموا أيّها الأمم وانهزموا، لأن الله معنا
God is with us. Understand. all ye nations, and submit yourselves; for God is with us.
2) إسمعوا الى أقاصي الأرض، لأن الله معنا
Hear ye, even unto the utter most ends of the earth; for God is with us.
3) أيّها الأقوياء انغلبوا، لأن الله معنا
Submit yourselves, ye mighty ones; for God is with us.
4) لأنّكم ولو قويتم، فستنغلبون أيضًا، لأن الله معنا
If again ye shall rise up in your might, again shall ye be overthrown; for God is with us.
5) وأيّ رأي افتكرتم به، يشتّته الرب، لأن الله معنا
If any take counsel together, them shall the Lord destroy; for God is with us.
6) وأيّ قول قلتموه، لا يثبت فيكم، لأن الله معنا
And the word ye shall speak shall not abide in you; for God is with us.
7) أمّا خوفكم فلا نتّقيه، ولا نتزعزع له، لأن الله معنا
For we fear not your terror, neither are we troubled; for God is with us.
8) والرّب الهنا، فهو الّذي نقدّسه، ويكون لنا خوفاً، لأن الله معنا
But the Lord our God, He it is to whom we will ascribe holiness, and Him shall we fear; for God is with us.
11) هاآنذا والأولاد الّذين أعطانيهم بالله، لأن الله معنا
Lo, I and the children whom God hath given me; for God is with us.
12) إنّ الشّعب السالك في الظلمة، قد أبصر نورًا عظيماً، لأن الله معنا
The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light; for God is with us.
13) أيّها السّكان في بلد الموت وظلمته، نورٌ يشرق عليكم، لأن الله معنا
And they dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, on them hath the light shined; for God is with us.
14) لأنّه قد ولد لنا صبيًّا، وابنًا أُعطينا، لأن الله معنا
For unto us a Son is born, unto us a Child is given; for God is with us.
19) إلهًا قويًّا حاكمًا رئيس السّلام، لأن الله معنا
The Mighty God, the Highest Power, the Prince of Peace; for God is with us.
20) آبَ الدهر الآتي، لأن الله معنا
The Father of the world to come; for God is with us.
21) المجد للآب والإبن والروح القدس، لأن الله معنا
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; for God is with us.
22) الآن وكل آن وإلى دهر الداهرين آمين، لأن الله معنا
Both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen; for God is with us.
معنا هو الله، فاعلموا أيها الأمم وانهزموا، لأن الله معنا
God is with us. Understand. all ye nations, and submit yourselves; for God is with us.
كلمات ترتيلة "معنا هو الله" مأخوذة، مع استيخوناتها، من سفر النبي أشعياء (الإصحاح التاسع)، تُرتّل بالأصل وفق النمط الإنديفوني (التناوبي)، فهي منبية على آياتٍ من الكتاب المقدس، تتبعُ كلُّ آيةٍ منها لازمة.
