If like me you have been using YouTube for a while you'll no doubt have seen the YouTube studio beta or perhaps you are new
to YouTube and you've been taken straight away to this view. Either way it's going to be rolled out fully over the next few months I'm sure and I'll give you a quick tour in this video. Here we go.
Now unless you've already changed your view to be YouTube studio beta or you've got a new account, you'll still be in this which is known as the classic view. So in your creator studio which you
would access from the drop down and click on creator studio you click on the blue button for YouTube studio beta.
If you click on what's new you'll get the latest information here on the right hand side then click on the latest updates, custom date ranges, snapshot video. I've had a look at the analytics section which is probably the most important thing. You want to monitor your performance, how you are getting on so it's
worth having a review of those settings. But notice before we do that there is a section called missing features and you can see at the moment you can't add playlists and live streaming transcriptions or subtitles.
So there are a number of things that will mean that the other version and you just revert back to it anytime is still going to be available. OK but let's have a look at some of the analytics. Across the top here you've got a number of different review options. So you've got overview this one, reaching viewers
interested viewers building an audience earning revenue and you can see below there's details of the latest activity in the last 48 hours and your best performing videos by default in the last
information. Here under reach viewers you can see the number of impressions and that's defined as how many times thumbnails have been shown to viewers whether or not they clicked on them and
then importantly how many then click through so 8% click through from seeing those thumbnails total number of views and that kind of thing.
And you can see the traffic source types so through YouTube search but also from YouTube suggesting videos and then some direct links as well. The interest viewers tab tracks really how long they spend watching the videos which is key for your performance and also the average view duration of each video. Here we go and you can see a summary of top performing videos, total number of minutes watched but also by the end screen so what people have clicked on on that final 15 seconds of the video
So that's a good idea of what's leading and generating more views. Which playlists have been viewed the most. OK and now
let's look at the build an audience section. So this is showing the increase in subscribers how many non subscribers are watching compared with subscribers and the breakdown male/female what
countries they're popular in all that kind of stuff. Another area is the videos view and that's basically video manager. You can see at a glance whether the content is being monetized or not, You can see they are listed in the current date order so the most recent one goes to the top You can choose to drill down
into any of these, click on them and you can see all the details you have added, tags and all that kind of stuff. And you can
select the thumbnail based on what's there. My overall impression is that there's a lot more detail available to certain sections obviously it'd be great to have the whole thing back together for now I continue to use creator studio classic as my default but that may change.
But that's it I just wanted to give you a heads up on the YouTube studio beta and let me know what you think of it.
