Polish Castle in Goluchów for 20 million euros and its legends
Today we're going to show you a castle. It's not well known, but it's very picturesque. The first time we visited it was a year ago. But I didn't make any travel videos at that time. So we decided to go there again and show it to you. And we didn't regret it one bit.
So, the Castle in Goluchów, one of the most beautiful castles in Poland, restored by Princess Isabella Działynska, born Czartoryska, following the example of the French castles on the Loire.

However, the first castle, built in Goluchów, dates back to the 16th century. The origin of the building is associated with the Leszczyński family, who bought Goluchów in 1507. It was an early Renaissance brick defensive building, multi-storey, rectangular in shape with towers.
Between the eighteenth and the first half of the nineteenth century the castle changed hands many times, gradually falling into disrepair. Finally, the castle was purchased in 1854 by Titus Działynski for his son, Jan Działynski (his wife was Isabela Czartoryska). After the uprising, Jan Działynski was forced to emigrate, and Isabella officially bought the castle from the Działynski family in order to protect Goluchów from confiscation. In 1875-1885 she undertook a thorough reconstruction. The castle, while retaining its original Renaissance features, acquired a romantic character.
The residence is complemented by extensive gardens and a park, which serve as a beautiful backdrop emphasising the value and elegance of the chateau.
The English-style park covering 162 hectares was designed by Adam Kubaszewski. Many rare and exotic trees have been planted. Also in the park there is a mausoleum-shrine (former Chapel of St. John the Baptist), where founder Isabella Działynska (Czartoryska) is buried.
In the rebuilt castle, Isabella housed her art collection, giving it to a public museum, while she herself lived in the adjacent outbuilding, the so-called Czartoryski Palace.
The Goluchów remained in the hands of the Czartoryski family until the outbreak of the Second World War. During the war the art objects were taken to Germany. At the end of the war, the stolen art objects were returned to Warsaw and Poznan. In the 1960s, a museum was opened on the castle grounds. Remarkably, in 2017 the National Museum in Poznan became the rightful and undisputed owner of the property for 20 million euros after a property dispute with the heirs of the Czartoryski family...
There are no castles without legends. Isabella, the last owner of the house, restored the castle in the 19th century. After her death, the locals claim, a ghost of a woman in a black dress appeared, strolling through the castle rooms and park alleys. The ghost is also called the Black Lady. Apparently, music can also be heard inside the building and candlelight can be seen...
Another legend. It is said that there is a treasure in Goluchów Castle that has not yet been found. The castle's successive owners tried to find it - they even tore down the walls to do it. But in vain. So far, no one has been able to find it.
Rumours about the hidden treasure are probably connected with the fact that in 1578 King Stefan Batory charged Rafal Leszczynski (it was he who built the defense manor in Goluchów) with overseeing the royal treasury.
Well... let these treasures remain undiscovered forever... you can only dream of them...
