School Strategies for Children with ADHD and Autism (2017)
As children progress into middle school, new challenges and opportunities occur, including multiple teachers, new accommodations, more independence, and new relationships. Experts in ADHD and autism provided research updates and strategies to help parents guide their children through these new challenges.

The UC Davis MIND Institute is working to amplify the voices of the disability community and promote neurodiversity. This includes responding to concerns regarding the language and framing used to describe autism and other neurodevelopmental disabilities. We believe there is a benefit to maintaining access to historical presentations like those on our YouTube page, but recognize that the vocabulary used doesn’t always match the current preferred language. We appreciate the harmful impact of this outdated language, the discriminatory framework which fostered it, and the distress it may cause to some individuals. In an attempt to lessen this, we have changed the titles of presentations where appropriate.
The UC Davis MIND Institute in Sacramento, Calif. is a unique, interdisciplinary research, clinical, and education center committed to deepening scientific understanding of autism and other neurodevelopmental conditions. It is a highly collaborative center, bringing together families, researchers, clinicians, community leaders and volunteers with the common goal of developing more personalized, equitable, and scientifically proven systems of support and intervention. The institute has major research efforts in autism, fragile X syndrome, chromosome 22q11.2 deletion syndrome, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and Down syndrome.
