Hey everyone, it's Matt here, and today I'm going to show you how to change your Spotify region. So, let's dive right into my Spotify account and get started.
First things first, head over to the top right corner of the screen where your profile icon is. Click on that, and then hit "Account" at the top of the dropdown menu.
Once you're in the account section, look for the "Edit Profile" option. In the profile section, you'll find your email, password, gender, date of birth, and importantly, the country and region settings.
Now, you might notice, like in my case, the country is set to United Kingdom and it's grayed out, meaning I can't change it directly from here. There's a "Read more about changing your country or region" link, which is quite helpful.
After checking out the information provided by Spotify, it turns out that if you're a Spotify Premium user, changing your country or region isn't as straightforward as it might seem. Spotify requires that your payment method matches the country or region you want to switch to.
So, if you're using a UK bank account and card like me, you're locked to the UK region. The same goes if you're in the US with a US-based account, and so on.
This means if you're looking to change your region for any reason, you'll need to update your payment method to one that's issued in the new country or region you're aiming for. Once you've done that, you can come back to this section, change your country or region, and then save your profile.
