DirectX Raytracing: Procedural Geometry

Raytracing doesn't require objects to made up of triangle meshes: all the objects in this video are procedurally generated. Raytracing also makes effects like recursive reflections easy to achieve.

The great news is that you don't need the latest and greatest GPU to start experimenting with DXR or to run samples like this one on your computer: we've just added procedural geometry support to our Raytracing Fallback Layer. Basically, it's a software layer that emulates DirectX Raytracing functionality via compute on machines that don't yet have built-in raytracing hardware.
