Will you save money buying fuel when it’s COLD?
There is a myth that you can save a lot of money buying fuel when it’s cold outside. So, the fuel changes its volume depending on the temperature and you eventually get a lot more fuel into your tank if it’s cold and it has lower volume.
It doesn’t make sense because fuel tanks are located under the ground where the temperature is almost always the same. It changes several degrees per day and it doesn’t make any different for fuel volume.
Even if the tanks were outside, it would only change the volume of fuel by 0.5% during the day. So, even in this case, you would only save up to several dollars a year if you bought fuel only when the temperature outside is the lowest!
