The Mini One 1.2-liter engine is the B38A12A unit engineered by BMW. It was made specifically for the Mini Hatch and Mini Cabrio and was used between 2014 and 2017.
Although the engine is pretty small and has just 4 cylinders, I couldn’t say it’s really bad when it comes to life expectancy and common problems. It’s not perfect, like pretty much every BMW engine, but it’s cool to drive and own and it has quite foreseeable issues that you can prevent or solve quickly if you now its nature.
