Crosswords - Noah Pacheco (Original)
2021: One song per month.
Written, recorded, produced in May 2021.
A song about reflecting.
Writer's Note:
I wrote this song linearly. Starting with the first verse, I thought the song was going somewhere completely different. I knew I wanted to keep the theme of "Crosswords" and sort of filling in the blanks of the words and what not but when I started writing the chorus, it really came together. The line "putting names to the things that I am," was the eureka moment for me. To me, this song is about going to therapy. Looking back on the past, trying to put words, emotions, reasons to the things that have happened. I started going to therapy (again, long story for another time) because I was growing a concern for the direction of my future. I've found that looking into my past has been a good way to stabilize my present and (hopefully) build a foundation for my future. The middle verse and outro came super easy after that and here we are. I hope you enjoy it. I'll be back next month for another new song.

LYRICS:
There's a word for the way that I'm feeling.
Just 5 letters, 4 across, starts with E.
2 Syllables, the opposite of brimming.
Oh, the glass is not full but EMPTY.
There's a word for the hurt that you did to me.
9 letters, 7 down standing tall.
Left me bruised and alone in my misery.
ABANDONED, with nothing left at all.
Doing Crosswords at the crossroads
putting names to the things that I am.
Oh, I trace it all back to then.
How am I supposed to know
what direction to go
If I don't know what direction's I've been.
There's a word that describes what I'm seeking.
7 letters across, starts with C.
Because up until now all I've been is just breathing.
Now I'm craving that sweet clarity.
Doing Crosswords at the crossroads
putting names to the things that I am.
Oh, I trace it all back to then.
How am I supposed to know
what direction to go
If I don't know what direction's I've been.
There's a word that describes where I'm going.
From these crossroads with past in rear view.
Yes, there's a word that describes where I'm going.
And that word is whatever I so choose.
