Chasm Lake winter hike, Rocky Mountain National Park
Chasm Lake is a beautiful hike in Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. It is a 8.8 mile, heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Estes Park, Colorado that features a waterfall, alpine like, views of Long's Peak, and popular rock climbing routes. It is rated as difficult and can be strenuous to inexperienced hikers. The trail is primarily used for hiking, horses, and snowshoeing and is best used from June until October. Horses are also able to use this trail. If you choose to hike in winter, bring proper gear and sunscreen to combat the wind and sun. Use extreme caution when hiking in the winter due to areas of the trail being prone to avalanche risk.
