One of the most challenging parts of VXLAN is provisioning for the operation of the control plane. This includes mechanisms that allow a source VTEP to determine the IP address of the destination VTEP based on the destination IP and MAC addresses of the original packet and frame. There are several methods that can be used to achieve this.
In this video, we take a deeper look at these control plane mechanisms and how they function, so that we can more clearly understand the available solutions and how they work.
Virtual eXtensible LAN, or VXLAN is a network virtualization technology that is exceptionally useful for large datacenter and cloud computing deployments. VXLAN has been developed to overcome some of the limitations of scalability that are inherent to more traditional Layer 2 technologies.
