In this video we cover one of our favourite pieces of equipment: The Concept 2 Ski Erg.

We'll go over different parts of the Concept 2 Ski Erg. Proper body-positioning while using the Concept 2 Ski Erg. As well as proper form and technique while using the Concept 2 Ski Erg.

Similar to the Concept 2 Rower, the Ski Erg uses an air-driven flywheel. However, unlike the Concept 2 rower, the Concept 2 Ski Erg has more plastic covering the flywheel which means the same damper setting on the ski erg as the rower will be easier. This combines with the range of motion required to complete the pull/drive results in a higher stroke/ski rate per minute (s/m). The Concept 2 PM5 display is also used on the ski erg just like the rower, so it is incredibly user friendly and built for a variety of training styles.

Position your feet 18-24 inches away from the flywheel of the ski erg, grasp the handles with the flat portion against the bottom of your hand for maximal points of contact. Using your legs and torso, begin the drive then follow through with your arms. Unlike the Concept 2 rower, your arms should be bent about 30-90 degrees (depending on who your talk to) throughout the pull. Finish with your hands by your pockets, then return your arms legs and torso back to the start position and repeat!
