Digital Storytelling | Ibrahim Hamid Hakim
Ibrahim Hamid Hakim – his nickname is Mouafaq and his family name is originally Audo. The townspeople called them Hakim because his father, grandfather, and great-grandfather practiced traditional medicine. His father was a famous doctor known as far as the borders of Turkey and Iran. Born in Alqosh, Ibrahim (Mouafaq) studied in Baghdad and went to the College of Education, majoring in chemistry. He was a teacher until retiring in 1997 and came to the United States in 2012 after witnessing numerous wars and bloodshed. He wrote dozens of articles about the history of Iraq and the role of Christians in the press.
These interviews were conducted in the modern Aramaic language, in the Chaldean dialect, also known as Sureth, and sparingly in Arabic. They were translated and subtitled in English.
