To evangelize is to bring the good news of Jesus Christ to others.

The Greek word eungelion means “good news.” The English word we use today is “gospel.” The writers of the gospels are called the “evangelists.”

Evangelization = Good News = Gospel

To evangelize is to spread the Gospel. To evangelize is to spread the good news.

This is very different from proselytization which seeks to convert someone to a certain belief system.

Christian evangelization seeks the conversion of the heart, not conversion to a religious status. We bring good news in hopes that it sheds light on every human situation. We bring good news knowing that our relationship with Jesus Christ has been life-giving and it can be life-giving for others too.

Christian conversion is life-changing. It is the turning away from selfishness and isolation to charity and unity.
