Border Gateway Protocol or BGP is the routing protocol used on the Internet. Compared to other more conventional routing protocols, its best path algorithm is extremely complex. Why such complexity? Why not just use a metric and be done with it? Well, there are several reasons behind the design of this protocol, and we'll explain them in this video.
