This is the incredible story of the AVG better known as the Flying Tigers. Plucky young Americans who signed up for adventure to aid the Chinese in their fight against Japan. Before the U.S officially entered the war in December 1941, these pilots were recruited under presidential authority and commanded by Claire Lee Chennault, affectionately known as Old Leather Face. Their mission was to help defend China against the Japanese forces. This was a commercial agreement and the pilots had to retire from their official posts before signing up which meant that there was less formality in the ranks. When it came to action in the skies these men were stone cold professionals and their incredible victory tally. Their performance made them one of the most successful fighter groups at the time. The Flying Tigers' efforts significantly boosted morale among the Allies and provided a psychological blow to the Japanese forces.
