This homily focuses on the descent of incarnation through various levels of ‘body’ – from Ineffable Source to physical ‘spacesuit’. It goes on to speak of the four tracks of Ascension:
1) That of the individual soul during a single lifetime; 2) That of the individual soul during many lifetimes; 3) That of the entire human species over history; and 4) That of the cosmos itself over the lifespan of the universe. The homily looks at various mappings of the human journey: Shakespeare’s Seven Ages of Man, Erik Erikson’s Eight Psycho-social stages, Confucius’ Five Constant Relationships, Catholicism’s Seven Sacraments and the Kalenjin people’s Three Rites of Passage. The homily ends with an admonition:
If you want to be a Warrior on the Way, you have to be prepared to face the possibility of death
many times; and not just the death of the spacesuit but the death of the etheric, astral, mental, and psychic bodies; and even the soul self. Waves are simply temporary manifestations of the Ocean, and the Ocean will always bring her children back home. Why would you settle for a single separated perspective when you can have a Unitive perspective as God?
