2024-12-08 Exegeting the “Hail Mary”
In this homily, I begin by looking at three ways of praying the rosary: 1) as a mantra; 2) by meditating on the actual words; and 3) by meditating on the mysteries – Joyful, Sorrowful, Glorious and Luminous. I speak of the difference between interpretations and translations – and note that mystical exegesis is far superior to rational exegesis. I then go on to unpack the “Hail Mary” using the Gaelic version as the template.
