A SAD day in Copenhagen
Recently, we’ve been writing too much about fire and its ruthless effect on our cultural heritage. Sadly, it’s time again. Recently, Copenhagen lost one of its most famous landmarks and an iconic sight in the skyline is no more. The 17th-century “Børsbygningen” (Stock Exchange building) caught fire, and the beautiful spire, made up of three dragons with their tails twined together, was destroyed. Luckily, a lot of art was apparently saved by resourceful citizens, but we don’t even want to think about all the furniture and other historical artifacts that are lost for good.
