HOST: Do you know Dallas Crum? You’re about to.

DALLAS: Five things that I always think about every day to ensure that I’m successful in whatever I do, number one, believing in myself, believing in my dream. I kind of made this promise to myself that I would never not believe in myself again. I found that out late in my career. That’s where I started to do my whole search of like what am I good at? What do I love? How can I combine those two things and make money doing it? Number two, being willing to work hard for that. I find alternate forms of learning. Finding mentors, finding people that I could talk to. Get out there in the real world and like, hey, you’ve done this before. Like, can I ask you a bunch of questions? Third one is being resilient when things aren’t going as well. In athletics it’s pretty easy to tell if you’re good or not. What I learned is that I wasn’t that good. In hockey my like bar was like holy crud. Worrying and anxiety never got anybody anywhere. It took me like three years to figure out that this negativity wasn’t working. Number four is being genuinely grateful and thankful for all the awesome things that I do have in my life already. The amount of time that I spend now just thinking about what I can do instead of what I can’t do has made a world of difference. And number five is treating people well. This whole process has been really revitalizing for me because through it, I’ve gained a set of tools that are so valuable that if it’s time for me to go start another business or help someone start their business I know that I have the tools and the skillset and now the people in my life that I’ve surrounded myself with. I can do it again now.
