“Is College Worth It?”
SUBSCRIBER: Is college worth the cost?
SUBSCRIBER: I would say monetarily, no.
SUBSCRIBER: I don’t think college is worth the cost, but it is a very big necessary evil, and it's also the lesser of two evils.
SUBSCRIBER: I think it really is different for every single person.
SUBSCRIBER: College is definitely worth the cost because it’s more of an investment than just your average every day payments.
SUBSCRIBER: And you gain knowledge. There’s nothing more valuable than knowledge.
SUBSCRIBER: There’s no right answer. You have to know, and you have to do what’s right for you, but when you don't know what's right for you, that becomes extremely difficult.
SUBSCRIBER: When you're investing in college, you’re investing in your career, you’re investing in your future, you’re investing in not being homeless.
SUBSCRIBER: But in real life you pay thousands and thousands of dollars to get a degree, and then you don’t even get that great of a job, and you’re just stressed out from all the debt, and sometimes it’s not even a job you like.
HOST: I’m not going to sugar coat it. College is expensive, but don’t let the numbers scare you. When you think of a traditional four-year college you probably think of some big campus where you’re going to spend a butt-load of money. And you’re not totally wrong. And just so you know college is around $30,000. That’s a lot of green. And I’m guessing like 99 percent of people, you don’t have $30k just laying around. And that’s where student loans come in to help you pay for school. That’s also why the student loan debt average is $29,400. But if you want to learn more about student loans and all that, just click up in this area right here. Right there. Think about it this way. A brand new car is going to cost you like $32,000, and you're going to have to pay it off over five years. So by the time you're done paying it off, the car's already depreciated. That means it's lost its value. You're going to end up putting more into the car than it's actually worth when you own it. Guess what doesn't depreciate. A college degree. Don't listen to any bogus numbers. Just know that that piece of paper is going to keep working for you the rest of your life. But still the question is, is it worth the cost? Well, what is cost? Cost is more than just money. It's also things like emotion, time and energy. You have to give something if you're going to get something. So if you go to college, you'll spend $30K now, but you might have the possibility of making a million. But if you don't go, you'll save that $30K, but you might not be able to make that million. Sad face. We talked about a ton of stuff on Buck the Quo. I mean just look at all this. And we've got the conversation started, but we need to keep it going. So, talk to us below. Comment. Let's all just come together and keep talking.
