In this video, Dr. Donald Ozello demonstrates the Modified Ober's Test, an orthopedic examination used to assess tightness in the Tensor Fasciae Latae (TFL) and Iliotibial (IT) Band.

📋 Clinical Context: Why "Modified"? While the standard Ober's Test is performed with the knee flexed to 90 degrees, the Modified Ober's Test keeps the knee extended.

The Benefit: Extending the knee reduces tension on the Rectus Femoris muscle. This allows for a more specific isolation of the TFL and IT Band.

Target Patient: Runners, cyclists, or patients with lateral knee/hip pain (IT Band Syndrome).

Technique Breakdown:

0:00 Intro

0:08 Patient Position (Sideline, bottom leg flexed for stability)

0:20 Doctor Contact (Stabilize Pelvis, support leg)

0:30 The Motion (Extend Knee - Abduct - Extend Hip)

0:40 The Test (Allow gravity to adduct the leg)

Positive Findings: The test is positive if the leg fails to adduct (drop) past the neutral (horizontal) line. This "hovering" leg indicates significant contracture of the IT Band or TFL.

🛠️ Recommended Rehabilitation Tools

1. IT Band Mobility: High-Density Foam Roller For patients with a positive Ober's test, myofascial release is the first step. 👉 https://amzn.to/3M2k45S

2. Glute Strengthening: Resistance Bands (Loop) A tight TFL is often compensating for a weak Gluteus Medius. Use bands to correct the underlying imbalance. 👉 https://amzn.to/3LT8I41
