How to Write a Song
Dear friends,
Here is a video of the desperate days before setting off to record with Gordon Raphael (The Strokes, Regina Spektor) in New York.
Work had got the better of me the weeks before leaving me so little time to write the song itself.
I thought as such I'd document the chaos in the lead up!
How does one write a song? Well, best to use yourself as Guinea Pig I guess!
The thing about a lot of videos is that they are instructing. However, the reality of song writing is that every song is different, and the creative process will always replicate according to the new conditions before each song.
I've set myself the goal this year that no matter what, I will keep up with my songwriting.
It been manic at times (as my vlogs attest!) and sometimes I'm having to go to the studios with barely written songs or half ideas.
It is not ideal, but it brings its own formulation.
And the strange thing, is that when you put yourself under extreme pressure, weird stuff starts happening.
I have the feeling that I'm writing my best ever material, and I think it is happening precisely because of the pressure - even if it feels desperately uncomfortable at times.
Likewise, here with my YouTube journey. I'm trying to keep up and remain consistent, even if its tough some weeks - anyone on this platform who is juggling their work will know the feeling haha!

This video was shot in Berlin in the Mahalla Arts Community before dashing off to The East Village for recording studio times.
The camera the Sony ZV-E1, most of it on the 11mm 1.8 lens - a nice light set up.
